Windows 10 should I or shouldn’t I, the time is here

The free upgrade to Windows 10 ends on 29th July, that’s just next week.  So have you been listening to all the hubbub from those that did upgrade? Some love it and some flat out hate it. But the big question should be, Is it any good?

I have also heard that some people have done the upgrade just to get the product ID then reverted back. At least they do upgrade to 10 when and if they are ready later on. If you are going to try this, make sure you do a full back up before you upgrade.

Many are unhappy with Windows 10 because of privacy concerns. Microsoft appears to be data harvesting  with Windows 10. 10 collects your data for one of its features, Cortana. You can disable these features during the installation. But many do not realize about the data collection.  By switching them off, you'll have more privacy, but how much more data Microsoft is collecting is anyone's guess.

While most of the bugs have been worked out, so they say. It is still buggy on some of the graphics cards. We have heard of one example the AMD X600 had compatibility issues.

Windows 8 was an unpleasant failure for a lot of people however, Windows 10 goes a long way to put that right. The OS is clean and familiar, like it was on Windows 7 and its predecessors. It also has a wealth of new, helpful features that you'll probably want to use.

So the choice is yours. Do I upgrade or Not.

Paul Antonelli - I installed Windows 10 about two months ago as I knew I'd be relocating to Thailand and might not be willing to undertake the upgrade by July 29. My only complaint has been that 10 isn't any faster than 8.1 and my HP printer (four-in-one) that I purchased in 2012 doesn't like Windows 10 and hasn't scanned right since my upgrade. Microsoft has some tests you can run to check compatibility of your PC with Windows 10 that you should run, but it's pretty easy once you decide to do it.

We all have different experiences in this thing. In my case, I really enjoyed using Windows 10 and I think it is well optimized.

Hi Paul Antonelli !

We went to Mac (primarily) in 2009.  That said, Suzanne does have a PC, and is happy with Windows 10.
