It happens a lot and is seldom discussed, just often complained about. Oh you know it, it may be called just one more thing or it could be, will you do me a favor, or even do you have just a minute for me. All of these expressions generally lead to piling on: a practice of expanding the tasks of one person to suit another who is usually unaware of just what the first person deals with day to day. In work, it happens often in top down organizations. It happens where I work (both places) and every time it does I remember why I was self employed for most of my life. Be careful. If you pile on too much you may just lose someone you rely upon who has had just one more task than they can or will handle.
Hi Paul. I'll live but there is a point of no return and I may be there. TY Sheila
Hi Sheila, it is so true that people try to pile things on us, if they need a favor or a minute, etc.

Sheila unfortunately there is a temptation to pile on when some one is know for doing a good job when they take on a task. What is forgotten is if you pile on too much the quality goes down.
Sheila, I totally get it... my other half Diane works for a Law firm and they keep piling on thing on top of her because she is good... needless to say I hear the pain and the complaints... trying to motivate her... I can see one more task might push her over...Endre

Unfortunately this does happen far too often Sheila, yet every manager knows the old saying, "if you want to get something done, give it to a busy person".

Thank you Endre. I wish Diane well. This may have been prophetic for me too. TY Sheila
Hello Bob. There can be truth in that but after a point in time......Bye Bye. TY Sheila

Hi Sheri. I hadn't thought about that in years but I read it and agree. TY Sheila
Good morning Sheila. Yes ma'am I've seen it happen. The more work that gets piled on the lower the quality of the job.

Sheila, it happens in the corporate environment all the time as I so sadly remember ... and in regular life I now know how to say no when it is needed.
