Reality is not all that it's bragged up to be Jeff Dowler CRS I imagine that rock would be little to no challenge to you. ![]()

I know many from our area that go visit regularly, and go hiking. It was lots of fun to explore this small mountain town. Time for another visit I think.

One of the great things about California Jeff Dowler CRS is that you can spend time at the beach, the mountains and the desert. Have fun!

I'm afraid to ask where suicide rock got it's name Jeff Dowler CRS

Hi Jeff Dowler CRS I'm not into rock climbing but I do want to go to Idyllwild. The bar there was featured on Bar Rescue a couple of years ago. I would like to see how it has turned out.

Hi Sheri Sperry - MCNE - that is one of the neat things about SoCal. So much diversity within just a few hours. Something for everyone
Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington - I believe it comes from a legend similar to Romeo and Juliet - a Native American Princess supposedly committed suicide here with her lover rather than being separated from him as ordered by the Chief. Who knows.
Jeff
Love Idyllwild I use to take the back road through Temecula when ilived there Cpl years.
Great pics! And I'm sure a great time.

Hi Jeff... looks like a great place to visit. Never heard of Idyllild until this post.
I became a regular when my ex-husband and his then-wife lived there. Kids would go visit and I always loved driving them up and hanging out in the little town for a bit. Darling.

We were there in the spring and it was beautiful. It's always fun exploring a new community. I was amazed at how many hikers there were.

I should write a longer post about it and include a few other photos. It's a neat place to escape to in the mountains not all that far from the coast

I thought it was a great little town, and one that you hope changes little over time. It's been 9 years - time to visit again!
Jeff
Hi Jeff - this is really a rigourous looking moutain. I guess that is why they call it Suicide Rock.
Jeff,
Very nice scenery at Idyllwind and I am with you I would rather enjoy the natural beauty than try climbing.
Hi Jeff -- I agree with Sheri Sperry - MCNE -- we are so fortunate to be able to have such relatively easy access to the mountains, the desert and the ocean -- it really is a dream location. I know the Idyllwild Music Festival is a pretty big deal too.
Grant Schneider - it was pretty impressive looking from our vantage point. My reearch shows the hike to be pretty steep and about 6.7 miles total. Beyond my experience and energy level
Belinda Spillman - we did some short hikes, and the forests at this time of year (April) were beautiful.
Jeff
Those are great pictures, Jeff. I love the scenery there. The homeowners below you sure have a nice view.
Hello Jeff
I may have been through this area before seeing as VB has been traveling all through the state of California for the last 40 years.
Nice looking place and it looks very relaxing!
The scenery looks nice but the name of the location leaves something to the imagination.
Larry Johnston - perhaps if I were in a bit better shape and more sell versed in hiking!
Robert Bob Gilbert - the hiking in the woods was beautiful, but time was limited and exploring the town, at the time, seemed more interesting

Michael Jacobs - I love that about Southern California. Didn;t know about the music festival - I'll have to check that out
Debbie Laity - the views were awesome! But I would sure miss the ocean!
Jeff
Robert Vegas Bob Swetz - we had a great time, and vowed to get back. Still waiting to do that. Our most recent haunt for getaways, other than LA and SF, has been the desert
Ed Silva - well I can't disagree. Here's a little history about the name

And now, in doing this, it makes me want to return and spend some time, in the woods and in the town!

Good morning Jeff. I like your style. Contemplating the climb is a great idea.
Sheila Anderson
I thought so. Without knowing what to expect, and realy not being prepared, it made no sense! But it sure was nice walking where we did
Jeff
Jeff,
We have passed it many times on our ways to the desert! Lovely pictures. A
