University of Idaho to offer Pokemon go class

I thought I had seen it all.  I have been attached to academics for my whole life.   The University of Idaho is going to offer a Pokemon go class for college credit.    http://www.ktvb.com/news/education/university-of-idaho-to-offer-class-based-on-pokemon-go/279761646.

It is good people are moving their bodies but a college credit?  I must say I am amused.  So what do you think of getting college credit for playing a computer game? To be fair two of my overweight friends have lost a significant amount of weight playing.   Have a great weekend.

I am not amused by this.  At a time when students are complaining about theiur debt they are takeing a class like this!  Where does this fit into their academics?

I think it's PE credit.

Hi Debbie Holmes , That sounds kind of crazy to me, even though I am not familiar how it works.

I am thinking the fad will go down before the class even starts.

I'm not sure if I like the concept if it just focused on the game it self. I do think that using the game to teach the concepts of augmented reality, spatial relations, and the future uses of this type of technology would be an excellent college courses. Let's wait and see how it goes.

Hi all! I was skeptical as well. This course is intended as a PE credit. Every degree requires a certain number of PE credits and this is a fun alternative. Students will be required to log miles while playing Pokemon Go. They will be monitored and still be doing significant physical activity in order to be awarded the college credit. I give my Alma Mater props for the creativity they utilized in creating this course offering for students.
