Friday Discovery: A Wonderful Wine For Under $10

We were drawn to this Italian wine, Soraie Veneto 2014 when we read  that it was made with partially dried grapes.  This concept reminded us of Amarone wine, a favorite of ours from the same region.  

 

Amarone is made from dried grapes.  As we researched this wine we learned that Cecilia Beretta is small family winery near Verona in the Veneto region, where Amarone comes from.  Beretta won the "Tre Bicchieri" (Three glasses) a prestigious award for their Amarone Terre di Cariano.

 

Here are the winemaker's notes "Soraie Veneto 2014, " Rich, velvety and round on the palate, with flavors of black plums, black cherry, vanilla and a  chocolate finish."  We really enjoyed it with our meal this evening.
