This weekend, I am cat-sitting for some favorite neighbors who moved here from Chicago a few years ago, and over these few years, they have managed to create a very sweet garden in the front yard.
When I stopped by for my cat feeding orientation, we started talking about Charlottesville, this weekend's destination, and that's when I learned that they love to do road trips to some of the area homes owned by Founding Father Presidents. Then they make purchases at the greenhouse to bring home to plant.
So this lovely garden has ancestors from the estates of at least Washington, Jefferson and Madison! Maybe one of these days they will head for Massachusetts and get something from John Adam's gardens.
It will be fun to see what they bring home from this (repeat) visit to Jefferson's Monticello!
