What I love about quotes is that they are easy to remember and often more impactful for me than a book, movie or class that I have taken. This pat week I had what I love to call "A Moment to Remember". I was fortunate to be invited to the Colorado Springs Urban Peak annual fundraiser breakfast under the Colorado Avenue Bridge. I know, fortunate and Urban Peak often do not go together but I think after this past Moment to Remember maybe they really do.
Colorado Springs Urban Peak is an organization dedicated to meeting homeless teens right where they are at and giving them support when needed whether it be a listening ear, a snack, warm socks, water or hygiene support. In the process of doing that over and over and over again trust begins to build and a life can be changed one person at a time.
Urban Peak held a breakfast under the bridge where you walk over trash and sit next to the train track while listening to speaks and some of the kids themselves. Walking in with an open heart will bring you to your knees as you viscerally experience what these kids live every day. My Moment to Remember was all of this but what holds it all together is this:
"Don't judge someone by the chapter of their life you happen to walk into". Author Unknown.
