Rain is good...Most of the time.
With our light soil, we need rain every week at least.
But, it also has to come at a speed that the ground can handle.
WE just got 3.9 inches in just over an hour.
No water in the house, but the ground is saturated.
I love to see the rain...but at a little slower pace!

Even on sandy soil taht is a lot of rain...I lijke a light all night rain of about an inch.

We had a hammering rain last weekend so I understand what you are saying. When you get a lot at one time, it just runs off and doesn't soak in.
With your light soils the puddles will go quickly, and maybe even the snowbank.
