As we're two thirds of the way through the 2016 selling season, I have to ask, have you hugged (reached out to) a fsbo lately? We at Fizber are on our way to adding another 3,000 unrepresented sellers to our for sale by owner website this month and many of these new Fizber home sellers are eagerly looking to get their home sold a.s.a.p. as the upcoming school year and subsequent holiday season are fast approaching. Don't laugh, the holidays will be here before you know it.
Now I know many of you think...fsbo's -- they're difficult, they're not in touch with reality, they overprice their home, they're rude, they're obnoxious, they think they know everything, etc. As FEATURED AGENT Manager at Fizber I've heard all of this and then some.
With that, have you heard of the late great motivational speaker, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and his inspirational quotes to make you a better you? One of my favorites is: "Change the way you look at things and things you look at change." So true!!!
So for those of you who believe FSBO's are a waste of time and effort I challenge you to change the way you look at things. How can I suggest this? Simple...
To date Fizber has assisted over 50,000 home sellers nationwide sell their homes either through our easy to use marketing platform or with the help of Fizber friendly FEATURED AGENTS. We've found that 80% of those trying to sell their homes for sale by owner are first timers! More importantly, over 70% of these home sellers exclusively list with a realtor, Fizber agent or not.
So what should this tell you? It should tell you, and I experience this firsthand everyday, many for sale by owners really need your help. They either don't know how to ask for it, might be too proud or stubborn to ask for it, they're turned off by real estate professionals who chide them for selling their home fsbo in the first place, or they think realtors make too much money in the listing process and would like to try and save some of that money themselves - probably things we'd feel if we were selling our homes for sale by owner.
So when encountering a fsbo this summer or anytime, greet them with a smile, an open mind and awillingness to help and not only change how you look at things and fsbo's in particular, but possibly change the way fsbo's look at realtors and in the process turn those rude, obnoxious, know-it-alls into a listing, sale, buyer, referral and perhaps even a friend. Good luck!
