Homeownership Still Desirable for Millennials

If you have ever worked with a millennial who was in the market to buy a house, you have probably run into a few challenges.

 

For our purposes, we will define a millenial as someone who was born between 1985 and 2004.

 

Over the years, baby boomers and Gen Xer's have viewed home ownership as a great way to build long term wealth.

 

According to the following article by RISMedia millennials are less likely to see owning a home as being the best long term investment they can make.

The recession was basically a blackhole for economic productivity for the Millenial generation. With that phenomenon and the high rents of today the delayed home ownership really makes perfect sense. It will rebound, but affordable housing is a much bigger problem than any sentiments on owning homes.

Hi, Sybil!  When I read the article, I remembered back to the day when my boomer friends and I were in our 20's and 30's.  And I only knew one guy who owned his own place!  The rest of us were renting in group houses with a bunch of roommates!

I bought my first home when I was young but times were different back then. We assumed a VA loan with $1000 down. It is much tougher now.
