What a wonderful vacation.
It has been 9 years since my bride and I have been on a real vacation. We arrived in San Francisco on July 25th. We stayed there two days taking a trip on one of those open top busses around the city and visiting Alcatraz Island. However, the most exciting part of the journey was meeting Paul Henderson yesterday. I thought we would have small talk and be gone within an hour. To hours later with much more to talk about we said our goodbyes.
My bride and I went to Mt. Rainier, it was a trip I would take again the sights, smells and majesty of the mountain was something to behold. After leaving we drove towards Hwy 101 for our trip back towards San Francisco for our trip back home Tuesday. We stopped in a little seaside town called South Bend, Washington.
We were tired and my old body was beginning to shut down. When we searched for a room to stay in they were all booked up. Stopping in Raymond, Washington I called a little out of the way place called the Seaquest Motel. With time running out I told the person who answered the phone if he had any available rooms. He said he had one left and without looking at the room I told him we would take it. Ten minutes later we pulled in and I paid for the room. As I was getting ready to leave my wife came to the door and said’ “Are you aware there are no air conditioners in any of the rooms?” the guy (owner) said not to worry it would cool off quick. Taking him at his word we continued.
The room was more than what we expected, very clean and loaded with amenities. We walked down to a local restaurant on his recommendation. What can I say he was right, the best seafood we’ve had since we landed? We took a stroll down to the center of the town. What a delightful day we had, now it is Friday morning, we will be off headed back towards our flight but we will see the Redwood Forest today. Glorious vacation, I truly had forgotten how wonderful getting away and recharging the batteries can be. Until tomorrow be safe and be happy, you only have one chance to get it right.
