A Hot Summer in Raleigh Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with Raleigh Cary Realty NC Broker #178638

There's the weather.  Summer in the South is hot, wet, and green.  The air is heavy with humidity.  The sun beats down relentlessly, interrupted by frequent rains that, somehow, barely lower the temperature.  Fall will come soon after Labor Day, but in July relief still seems a long way away.

There's the housing market.  The weather may be hot, but real estate agents are hard at work.   Spring and summer are High Season for the housing market, and 2016 is another year of declining inventory in the Triangle.  Desperate buyers compete for the desirable houses, which attract multiple offers and can sell in a day.

Single-family detached homes under $250,000 are golden!   After just one weekend on the market, the owner of this Apex cutie had three offers, each one eager to pay higher than the list price.

There are some ways to beat the heat.   Put on a bathing suit and stay wet all day -- that's your best option.   Many subdivisions have pools that rival water parks!   This one is in Amberley, a community in West Cary.

Might as well embrace the heat.  It's summer, after all.

This is by no means a humble report about your local market Dianne! You did a great job talking about the weather, things to do-in your swimsuit, and the housing market! I love the waterpark. That is the kind of park our town has, not a neighborhood.  What a gret perk to live in Amberley! Thanks for your entry into the HOT Contest!

This is a great post for Evelyn Johnston 's contest.... and I can't imagine a subdivision with a "water park" scene!!  but then you have HOA's and we don't.... homeowners need to install their own water parks in my area!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barbara Todaro -- Really?  No HOA's in your area?  They are the rule rather than the exception here.

Thank you, Endre!  I enjoy photography but I'm stuck at the iPhone level.  I have an SLR but need to take a class to learn how to use it.

Excellent post Dianne. One of our best agents in town is relocating to Raleigh. She is going to be selling real estate there. Her name is Katie Griffin if your paths happen to cross.

Have her give me a call -- I'll buy her a coffee as a welcome.   It would be hard to start over in a new area, I can't imagine doing that.  Like I can't imagine you anwhere but Clarksville TN!

Austin is a lot like Raleigh -- state capital, major university.  And I bet the weather is similar too.  So tired of summer!

Heat would be sooo much easier without a lot of humidity...sounds like yor market too is experiencing thinventory !

Yes, it's the humidity more than the temperature that makes summer in NC miserable.  And yes, our resale home inventory gets lower every year.

There is no sense in complaining. The seasons are what they are. I love your post. We don't have the humidity here, but we sure can get hot and the sun is really intense when you are 6200 feet above sea level.

The mountains are an escape from the heat here too, though the Smokies are minor mountains compared to yours.
