Welcome to the ongoing weekly series called Tuesday Travelogue. We are in our 102nd week!
Each week, some ActiveRain bloggers are spotlighted to take us somewhere we may not have been on some kind of virtual travel (and it doesn't cost a dime!). Here is the purpose:
to enjoy the ride"
"take a trip without even leaving the farm"
"expand your horizons"
"see through someone else's eyes"
and hopefully much more!
To beat the heat (or drought) that many of you are experiencing right now across our country, I thought we would take a dip...virtually, and cool off.
Natural Lakes or Manmade Lakes? What is your preference? Do you care, so long as you can swim, boat, dip a toe in and not get it bitten off?
Virginia Gardner who lives in Virginia, (I think that's kinda cute), lets us know that there are actually 2 natural lakes in Virginia, something she didn't know for years! AND she lets us know that Maryland is the only state with no natural lakes. (I didn't know that, did you??) This natural lake is Lake Drummond. She tells us really interesting info in her post!
How about the scenic lakes of Hopkinton, MA? Echo Lake (below), Lake Maspenock, just love these names! Claudette Millette talks about some natural and manmade lakes up in her neck-of-the-woods.
Did you know that Wisconsin has 15,000 lakes?? And they are magical, according to Lisa Bear. Go see "Lake Country" through her eyes.
What is it about lakes that makes realtors write such great posts about the FEELING of a lake or river? This next post about Minnesota's Lakes (real ones!) and rivers is lovingly written from someone who grew up there, Steve Baklaich.
There is no way that I could spotlight lakes without mentioning Lake Sinclair, GA, Tammy Lankford's home! She gives us some compelling reasons why her lake is so great.
Of course I couldn't let you leave without a stop off on Fishhawk Lake in Oregon. Ours is manmade, built way back in 1967 over an old railroad. The owner of Vernonia Realty, Ken Bateman actually helped build it when he was in highschool! Sit back, relax and take a trip with me on a May day. (This is the first video I ever shot with my husband's little camera, while canoeing).
Please don't forget to comment on these blog posts and I hope that you enjoyed all of these virtual travels.
