Does Your Website Tell Your Story?
Super article and advice from Katerina. And, this is my reminder to actually do this and expand my about me page. I think I'm going to add in my furry friends since pets are such an important part of my business and the flooring decisions made.
The last post I wrote about the one page that gets more clicks than any other page on your website went over the reasons why you need to make a splash with your about page.
Your about page is one of the most overlooked opportunities to highlight your unique talents, passion, and mission statement.
Your about page is the connecting page. It is the page that connects you with another human being reading your about page.
This page offers you a place to shine. Yes, you get to toot your own horn in the proper place on your about page.
First though, before you share your accolades and experience, this is something most people assume will be on your page and get bored out of their minds if that is all they see.
Human beings love story telling. Human beings love reading a story and being involved in a story.
On your about page- add a photo of yourself in your natural elements. If you list and sell condos or homes on the beach, have a photo of you on the beach or boat. If you list and sell homes in the country, take a photo of yourself in your surroundings. Be natural, authentic and transparent.
Most of the about pages are too long to get a good screenshot for you so I took some snapshots of parts of the about pages:
Then tell your story. Everyone has a story.
Your story is what creates an emotional connection or bond if you will, with your perfect ideal customer.
Like kind attracts like kind.
When someone reads your story they feel like they know you. People do business with people they know, like, and trust. Your story creates: the know, the like and the trust. Keep it real.
If you do a lot of charity work or community service, highlight it!
After your story is where you put your experience in real estate, your career achievements, your designations and certifications. This is where you feature your awards.
Those are very important but only AFTER you have made the connection.
A strong about page with a lot of content shows Google that you are a real human being and also that you are relevant. This helps with your online branding.
So throw out your dry generic about me page content on your website and begin with your story.
