Good afternoon Grant Schneider - some people just love to travel passionately-I am definitely one of them!!! Thanks for stopping by.
Very cute Hannah Williams - with my balance, we would have tomato sauce!
You are right Beth Atalay - their posture is extraordinary.
Joanna,
I don't remember the name but it is an artist from the Macchiaioli, the Italian version of Impressionism. It is just beautiful. In another room is a marble statue of Michelangelo as young boy sculpting an old man's face. It was done by his teacher, and we always pose to study it again. It is one of our rituals in Florence.
We have visited it every time except for the last time when the museum was closed. We usually go there mid-morning and revel in the beauty...look out at the red tile roofs and then have lunch at Ottorino's which is on a tiny street hidden from the hustle and bustle. Their food is exquisite as is their wines
Oh my God, it sounds like heaven. I studied sculpture at The Bargelo and I remember going to the Pitti and seeing the statue of Michaelangelo. Sounds like your restaurant is quite a gem.
Those ladies are devoted to their work too! Thank you for sharing with us.
Good morning Joanna. I would wear that pad on my head to help balance those baskets.
Hi there Donna Foerster - it is a beautiful foto of women doing what they need to do to survive.
Yes, a pad might make it easier James Dray ! Isn't that how everyone walks home from WalMart in Bentonville?

Joanna, what beautiful colors - especially the tomatoes. And they must have great posture. These women work hard to share their harvest.
No question about that Patricia Kennedy - the walk from the market to their village is a long one.
Hey Michael Jacobs and what gorgeous posture!

Indeed, Joanna
Do not try this at home! Remember when putting books on your head and walking around your living room was supposed to create not only great posture, but a more perfect woman? These ladies have it down and get the job done.
Of course I had to "star" this one in Travellers in the Rain group!
I just don't see how these women do that. I could learn to balance it but the headache that would result would be a killer. I get a headache when wearing a hat and they don't weigh anything.
Thank you so much Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 - I am going to pop by right now. Leaving for Ireland on Tuesday so may not get to see your travels for a few weeks but hope to have some great pics to share. And yes, I remember the posture routine - I probably should have practiced more!
And yes Debbie Reynolds I too get headaches from wearing some hats too long so I could only imagine this kind of activity but they don't have wagons or cars so what choice do they have?
Hi Joanna- When I see this photo, I see a testament to the strength that all women have...and not just physical strength.
Joanna I have a flat head and I till would not be able to do it, on a side note you are lucky I could not post any pictures all week until today:))Endre
Good morning Kathy Streib - I see the same thing for sure. And Endre Barath, Jr. I love your photos - and want to see more-even if they are photos of you walking around with baskets of tomatoes on your flat head!
Good morning Joanna Cohlan,
This shot is amazing! Just an every day ritual for these ladies..so colorful..such great posture!!
That photograph tells a story! I love the colors and a good photo that causes me to think. This one does it all!
Good Wednesday morning Joanna Cohlan -
Wonderful photo and tells the tale. I can't even walk across the room with a book on my head.
I remember my sisters and I would walk around the bedroom with books on our heads.... they never stayed there too long. Mom was always telling us to sit and stand straight and always watch your posture. With my height and skinny body I was always concerned about my posture and still am. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photo, Joanna.
