I am very happy to say that, "I love where I live in Oro Valley, Arizona", which is 6 miles north of Tucson. Oro Valley was incorporated in 1974, so we are only 40+ years old, which I know is like a young'un in terms of other cities/towns in Southern Arizona - for example, Tombstone was founded in 1879. So we are 'newbies'!
We are a mid-sized college town with the University of Arizona being in downtown Tucson. Located just 60 miles north of the Mexican border - Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Mexico - are only an hour away from Oro Valley.
What's nice where I live here in Oro Valley, is the fact that you have young families, snowbirds, and retirees living in the same town! What an interesting and fun variety of people - we are very diverse, and enjoy all ethnic groups.
There are 5 mountain ranges in Tucson, and we get to enjoy the Tortolitas ('little turtle') from our backyard, and the Catalinas from our front yard. I have to share: "That mountain-view NEVER gets old!!"
Enjoy our beautiful and breath-taking sunsets, as we are known for them . . . the picture below is one taken from our back patio . . .
Come - visit us, and enjoy Mother Nature, and see why living in OV brings a smile to my face. Of course, being a 'cowgirl at heart' and 'loving the Wild West' doesn't hurt either!
