Getting Together

Our area Realtors get together every week to tour new listings and every so often on that 5th Wednesday that comes around, we have guest speakers or some type of program.  Yesterday we met with area loan officers, appraisers, inspectors, title work companies and a representative from the city to discuss changes in the city codes, loan programs and appraisal issues so that we could better serve the Searcy community.  I want to thank a fellow Realtor, Larry Degroat for putting the program together.  It was very informative.  I hope you have a member in your area that works as hard keeping everyone on the same page.....

What a great suggestion to share. We have local broker's open houses but never thought of having something special on a 5th Wednesday. That would really promote good business and networking. Interesting. --Carla

Hey Kelly, 

At our office we have a "Roundtable" discussion each week on Thursday - hosted by one of our Brokers.  We recently started having the sessions at a "Realtors Open House" - and it is working out great.

1 - We schedule at one of our "REALTORS" Listings.

2 - The Listing Agent has lunch - nothing fancy - ham biscuits (we are the South) - chips -dessert

3 - Fun - A Mortgage Lender - All of us REALTORS (maybe 5 ) - we discuss what's going on in the market

4 - The Seller gets at least 5 to 6 REALTORS in Their House

5 - The REALTORS get Lunch

6 - The REALTORS  & the "GUESTS" talk to each other & LEARN

Hey it's a Win Win Situation!!!

Thanks for the comments!  Carla and Dave, maybe you could start implementing the same thing in your area.  It only takes one person to get the ball rolling and it seems to me you care greatly about your business or you wouldn't take the time to be here on AR!  I appreciate any efforts a fellow agent takes to keep everything in our area running smoother and more efficently! (ok, maybe not EVERYTHING!!)  Kathy, that is a great idea as well....taking it one step further - that is always good.  Thanks for the info!

Thanks Kelly for the kind words.  It is a lot of work to pull something like that off but I do feel it was well worth it.  These are changing times and we all need to stay on top of things and this is a great way to keep all of us on the same page.  Our Board is so different than other boards in this state as well as other states.  It is great that we can all come together and set our competitiveness aside and listen to each other.  Again, thanks for the kind words and welcome to AR.

We all know it is a lot of work Larry, one thing you are not opposed to doing, thank goodness!  More agents should take the initiative that you do in helping to make our Searcy Board of Realtors even better than it is!  We really do appreciate it and we know you are always there to take care of us.  I agree with you also about putting competitiveness aside as well - all we do should be to the good of the customer/client and you help make that happen!  Thanks again!
