Music, family fun and a gorgeous sun set over San Francisco Bay will be featured at the annual “Concerts at the Cove” on August 12, 5:30 to 7:30, featuring Andre Thierry: Zydeco.  Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a picnic dinner or enjoy freshly prepared street tacos from Calafia Taqueria and a variety of sausages from Café Jolie. Crab Cove is located at 1252 McKay Avenue in Alameda.

The Uplands of Bay Farm is the subject of Alameda Walks on Saturday, August 13.  Meet at Godfrey Park, 281 Beach Road, on Bay Farm Island in front of the recreation building.  This revised walk will focus on the farm lands that once dominated Bay Farm Island and its history.  Dennis Evanosky and Eric Kos will lead this walk.  Note:  Walk last 1 hour and 15 minutes

The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 16  mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine.  All the fruits and vegetables are available at great prices.  So good!  Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits, vegetables and flowers.  The market is on Webster Street and Haight Avenue and is open rain or shine.

 

Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid food trucks will be at South Shore on Saturday, August 13, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot near Petco.

The Meyer’s House and Garden will be open on Saturday, August 13 at 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The gorgeous colonial revival was built in 1897 for the prominent Alameda architect, Henry H. Meyers.  Mr. Meyers designed many building and churches, schools and the Posey Tube Portal of the Webster Tube.  The Meyer’s House and Garden is located at 2021 Alameda Avenue in Alameda. This house is a must see for Alamedans to discover what living in Alameda in the early 20th Century was like.  Free for members and for non-members there is $5.00 fee.

Crab Cove for Family Nature Fun Hour features “Wonderful Whales.”  Find out about whales and then find out what’s new at the cove on Saturday, August 13, at 2:00 pm.  Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.

The Grey Ghost: ParaCom a fundraiser featuring a panel of guest speakers from the paranormal field on Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 pm on the USS Hornet.  There will be vendors, free tours, space exhibits and events for all ages.  Tickets are $40 per person for conference only.  $150 for conference and overnight investigation.  Proceeds benefit STEM education programs on the USS Hornet Museum.  Please call 510-521-8448 x 282 or at www.usshornet.org/calendar/paracom.

 

Summer Beats at South Shore Center family concert series featuring the Pure Ecstasy on Saturday August 13 at 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Face painting, henna tattoos and a bounce house for the kids.  All free to the public at the Center Court at Alameda South Sore Center, Park Street and Otis Drive.  Please call 510-521-1515 for more information.
