Lee County Permits Fall for Single-Family Homes

During the month of July, new construction home builders only pulled 90 single-family home permits worth approximately $19.4 million.  If you compare this July to June, the number of permits pulled fell by 4.2 percent.  Last year, contractors pulled 116 permits which represents a 22.4 percent decline according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

In addition, during July, there were 8 permits pulled for 8 multi-family units valued at approximately $815,000.  In the previous month, there were 93 units pulled.

Bottom Line:

Less new construction will continue to contribute to the lack of supply of homes available for sale in Lee County.

Matthew Klinowski If Lee County is as restrictive on the approval of building permits as Charlotte County, that would help explain this decrease, besides the fact we are in the slow zone of the year.

Lee is more flexible the Collier County for sure.  I didn't realize Charlotte was tight on their restrictions as well.  I suspect Lee's decrease is due to smaller projects by builders.
