A funny ritual for Katy Tow Truck drivers

I was on the way to the daycare this morning when I saw a police car with lights flashing behind a car in the other lane.  I couldn't tell if it was a breakdown or an accident, but it certainly didn't look too serious.  Anyway, there was a police officer there and a tow truck driver.  Off of the side street, another tow truck approached and I stopped to let him through to where the police officer was.

TomaterHe pulled up, greeted the officer and the other tow truck driver.  Then I thought how odd...these guys were flipping a coin or some other ritual I couldn't fully see to appearantly decide who got the tow!  It was pretty funny.  I didn't fully understand what they were doing as both men were flipping a coin and they flipped multiple times so maybe it was even two out of three!

Anyway...it seemed such a civil way to settle a dispute over a "client".  I guess this is just protocol for the drivers, but hey, it still impressed me that it wasn't first come, first serve and made me feel better that these guys weren't going to run ME over to get to a job!

I rolled my SUV a couple of years ago on the freeway and almost before I would get out of my vehicle, I was surrounded by 3 tow trucks.  And when the Highway Patrol arrived, he called a 4th!

Goodness!  How can they get to accidents that fast!  I also thought while reading your blog that traffic must have been very slow for you to see all of this happen!  Katy TX must be no Dallas, TX!  Fun blog

My fuel pump or something like that when out as I was getting of the highway last year.  The nicest tow truck driver pulled over a couple minutes behind me... You know, the guy said he was just finishing for the day and gave me a lift to the dealership and charged me $20....  That was nice.
