If you are looking for some old fashioned VT summer fun with good local produce, fresh pastured eggs and wholesome chicken then you don't want to miss the Savage Garden Dinner this Saturday August 20th. Located on Savage Point Road in North Hero Hugo and Amanda Gervais love for fresh produce and fresh air has produced an amazing Farm that they love to share with others. Located in The Big Barn this Saturday you will enjoy a farm fresh dinner with music. Dancing under the stars or just listening to the tunes, you'll be happy you discovered a slice of VT some people only dream about.
A member of The Champlain Farmers Market, Savage Gardens embraces the "Farm To Table" concept that VT is becoming so well known for. The Fee Range wholesome chickens are raised on pasture and eat grain, bugs and scratch the dirt. Chicks are started in April and go on to October. They are sold whole and fresh or frozen depending on the processing schedule.
The organic produce and fruits are grown with care on the farm in North Hero, Vermont and also in Isle Lamotte, Vermont. Rotation of the fields to minimize pests and improve the soil is a focus. A wide range of vegetables as well as strawberries and raspberries is grown and can be found at their farmstand, at summer farmers markets, at the Fletcher Allen farmer’s market, at City Market, Healthy Living and Natural Provisions. Savage Gardens also supplies a few area restaurants and cafeterias with some wholesale produce.
The weather will be gorgeous and the food will be fabulous. Mark your calendar and stop out for an enjoyable evening you will keep in your memory for many years to come.
