Now THAT's the red carpet treatment for parking during Concours Week

Red Carpet parking in Carmel-by-the-Sea during Concours Week.

The day before the Concours d' Elegance in Pebble Beach, it seems that everyone with an expensive car is here. There is no distinction, they are just plain that: expensive.

People are walking up and down Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea, our main street, looking at them. Your ordinary everyday car should not even get near this street today, you would feel, well, you know. This is the day to show it off, and you really need one to show off. Competition is stiff. 

Naturally, everyone wants to park it on Ocean Avenue too so people can admire it. Maybe that's why they drive around and around town like they do in Manhattan, they just don't want to leave it on a mere side street. Although these are packed with formidable cars as well.

AND THAT'S WHERE I FOUND THIS RED CARPET TREATMENT...LITERALLY.

This was right in front of Little Napoli restaurant on Dolores (my street) & 7th (I'm between 5th & 6th, if you want to come visit).

Bob "RealMan" Timm - Didn't see any clunkers in town today. We are talking serious cars out there just driving around and parking like normal cars. And getting normal tickets for overstaying the 2 hour limit.

Larry Johnston - Yep, all you do is buy that spot for the day at a flat rate if there is a function. I know we do that during our Carmel Art Festival as well. But, I must admit, we've never put a red carpet out there. Something to think about. Hm..

Nice of them to roll out the red carpet for all of these fancy cars, I am sure the owners who had the honor of parking on this stretch of street appreciated the treatment.

Bob Crane - Not to burst your bubble, but I think they were dealers of these fabulous cars who reserved these spaces from the city at a nice little rate to show them off. Oh, and so they wouldn't get a ticket for parking in these prime spots. In any event, I think it showed great foresight.
