Today is a work day -- signing a listing and getting things moving for a seller -- but yesterday was art day!
The newly rebuilt and expanded SFMOMA lived up to the hype and didn't disappoint. From 10:00AM (suggestion: arrive at opening - no crowds for the first hour) until 1:00ish, we were enthralled by the building itself, as well as the artwork inside. The living plant wall is fantastic, the mobiles, the sculptures, and art pieces both large and small (a series of small photos of water towers around the world caught my fancy)
Our art tour didn't end there,however. We then strolled across the street to the rooftop Yerba Buena Center gardens with its fountains and sculptures before boarding the J-Church trolley line to take us to the Noe Valley neighborhood for lunch and a great walk up and down hills and staircases. We enjoyed various murals, the "jungle house," the mosaic doorway thresholds and walls.
The art continued in the form of garden design at homes as we hiked up to Douglass Park for views and to check out the off-leash dog park area at top.
Our final stop of the day before getting on the 24-Jackson MUNI bus and home was Lehr's German Specialties.
Knackwurst, German rye, Swiss rosti and a beer made the perfect dinner to end our art day.
