One of San Antonio's most fun places is the Cool Crest Minature Golf Course. The course originally opened in 1929 and is one of the oldest minature golf courses continuously in operation in the country. Actually there are two minature golf courses at Cool Crest - the Old Course which as I previously mentioned opened in 1929 and the New Course which came into being in 1957. Cool Crest has only had 3 families have ownership since its inception. Originally, Cool Crest opened just prior to the minature golf fad that swept our country in the 1930's. I have enjoyed playing both of the Cool Crest courses. But these 2 courses are quite different. Both the Old and the New courses are challenging but not gimmicky unlike many more recent minature golf courses. And you can feel the history of the Cool Crest courses as you play them.
This year the campaign kick off for Preservation San Antonio was held at Cool Crest. And while the weather was stormy the attendance was enthusiastic. it was a great evening and highlighted our city's remarkable history and, of course, Cool Crest and its special history. And what a charming, fun memory it was for me!
Anyway if you looking for some great fun in the Alamo city, coupled with some amazing historic ambiance - Cool Crest is definitely the place to go!
