How many 'Little' things are we overlooking for our clients?

How many 'Little' things are we overlooking for our clients?

This past weekend I stopped in a local General Store in Garfield Bay Idaho.  It was early morning with no one but me shopping.  I made a purchase to serve as my breakfast and headed outside.  While enjoying one of the two picnic tables water side, I realized they were not something that needed to be made available by the general store.  I would have made the purchase either way.

While seemingly small, and what many would not think twice about, I knew this little 'perk' would draw my business again, whether using the tables or not.  It also made me ask what little things I was not doing that would make a big difference to clients. vendors, and prospects alike.

I am sure with very little thought we all can think of something we are not doing that would take little effort to do consistently, and also make a big impact.

Doing that little extra "something" is what makes you stand out. Like the boy who trims the edges after he mows the lawn.

Here's a little thing I did today (and have done in the past).  I paid for the cleaning of my seller's home.  This is an out of town seller, the home is vacant, his mother lived there and she had to move to senior facility.  I arranged for the cleaning and when seller asked me to send him the invoice--I said 'nope--I've already paid it".  A small gesture that made a big impact, and I was happy to do it!

Going the extra few inches or mile is HUGE for repeat business and referrals.  There are many little things that we can do to make the lives of our clients easier during the stressful selling/moving process.  Providing a list of what to expect or important dates regarding the contract are HUGE to your clients.  You do this every day.  They do it a few times in their life.  Thank you for the ah-ha moment.

Nice!  I've always believed that small things can and do make a big difference. Your featured post and the comments support it!  And I love the fact that it was your 'experience' that made you think of this and not the breakfast that you ate. You went in for breakfast but you enjoyed the 'experience'.  Congrats!

Mark, you are right, little things can definitely make a difference.  I think we have plenty of opportunity in our profession to take care of some of these little thing so or ours customers. It's what makes you stand out from the crowd.

We can always do little extra things that set us apart from others. I recently had the opportunity to help some folks at a business that was closed because of a city water problem.  I also challened other local businesses to help them out as well.

It's the little things that count and people remember the most. Big things often get overlooked. But a small gesture, a little thing that means a lot - now that's from the heart and very much appreciated!

This is a great motivational post!

Good point!  One thing I'm always considering is how to leave my name somewhere.  I brand my water bottles so am always handing them out, even bringing them into my office meeting clients (I work from home.)

As you well know Mark, the little things make all the difference.

The big things are expected (that's why you stopped at the store).

But those little things...they make you a raving fan.

As you well consider, the same is true for our business.

Good morning Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint .  Winston Heverly pulled an oldie but goodie out for a reblog today.  It is often the little, subtle, things that can make a big difference to a business.   And, it's good to reflect on our own business when we see something we appreciate at another business.

Have a great day!
