Thoughts On My 1st Year As A Realtor

By
Real Estate Agent with Long Realty SA657797000

Well . . . I have crossed over that "1 Year" mark of being a Realtor - so how exciting is that - and, I'm still here!!

I've learned alot, just by observing and having On-The-Job Training with Roger.  I've listened, asked numerous questions, wondered about people, and worried about homes.  I've had many "Whys"!

And a huge factor to me personally, is that I 'have the time', and 'the enthusiasm' to care and listen and to have that sense of humor with clients.

Also, I've surprisingly developed 'more patience' over the months, which is such a valuable trait that I had in short supply - nothing like a Type A who knows what she wants, and obviously wants it now - HA!  I've learned to be patient with older folks in our community, which is my niche, who cannot hear well, and cannot see well, and who walk slowly.  I knew I was doing 'something right', when a client said to Roger, "I look to Allie to translate what you are telling me - she talks slowly and right to my face".  Well, I was moved by her comment . . .  Wow!  Me?

Why were some folks just so interesting and awesome at Open Houses - they really gave you an in, into what they were looking for, and made establishing a connection with them so easy!

Why were some Listing Appointments a 'I Want To Sell' Approach - I just have to pack up and clear/clean out, as I have an apartment to go to, back in the state where my children live, and a date when I want to be there.

Why were some Home Showings so easy - folks saw homes that could work, could not work, and were maybe's.  They were open to possibilities, and flexible.

Why, Why, Why?  Because people are people and they are all different and unique!  Each has their own motivation, their own sense of urgency, and their own mental game plan.

How can I fit into their plan to make their Dream become a reality?  Be they Buyer or Seller, we are on this Adventure together, and be assured that I will do everything possible and beyond, to make this happen - "We Are A Team!"

Allie my first Broker told me if you have three properties in Escrow and can go to sleep and wake up and find out all three just canceled and you can take a deep breath and fifteen minutes later can start generating new business you are in it for the long haul... that was 23+ years ago, Congratulations to your achievement, Endre

Congratulations, Allie Angeloni!  Roger is lucky to have you working by his side and it sounds like your clients are loving your patient, caring personality also.  I think listening is one of the key things that we do and we just don't see a lot of agents doing that.  You are over that one-year-hump - give yourself a major pat on the back!!

What kind comments, and thank you so much Debe Maxwell!  One of my best motivators is Roger, since we are a Team, so making it through Year 1 is nothing like doing it completely on my own . . .  I truly admire and respect people that can do that and be successful.  In our office I actually see alot of 'couples' that are Teams, too - who knew?!

Congratulations on getting past the first year. I remember how scary it was mixed in with em0tions and eagerness to get my first sales. If there's one thing I learned, nothing in my MBA graduate class could have prepared me for what it means to be a Real Estate Agent. Every transaction is different. Forms, technology, contracts, and peopel are forever changing. With your type of compassion, I know buyers and sellers are in good hands when they hire you.

You are very kind Patricia Feager - yes, it has been and continues to be, a fun Adventure, as there is always a 'new situation', or at least to me, taking place.  As different as people are, so are their particular situations.  And as interesting as class was, and at times how dry material was, real life is not boring!
