Ok, I've posted a few more serious blogs lately, so today I'm going to lighten it up a little and talk about one of my favorite classic shows, "The Golden Girls!" I think we could all learn some lessons from these classy 80s ladies, so lets find out how to sell property like a Golden Girl!
Be Like ROSE: Rose was always able to see the best in everyone. She might've had some off the wall
stories about good ol' St. Olaf, but at heart she always meant to lend a helping hand. Be like Rose, and always look for the redeeming qualities in your customers! Greet them with a smile and a funny anecdote about your life to build rapport and make the clients feel comfortable!
Be Like DOROTHY: Dorothy was a tough cookie, for sure, and her no nonsense attitude always got to the heart of the issue at hand. She was always there for her best friends, but pushed them to be better. Be like Dorothy, and get to the root of any problems in your deals quickly and efficiently. Don't waste time trying to sugar coat things - blunt honesty delivered with a good heart behind it is always better than beating around the bush!
Be Like SOPHIA: Sophia was the matriarch of the bunch, always willing to lend an ear. Her best lines
always began with "Picture it..." and then she would launch into a story of old world Sicily that always had a snappy punchline with a little nugget of wisdom tied in. Be like Sophia, and make your customers feel like you'll be there to look our for their best interests, while still being witty enough to bring a smile and a laugh in the process. You can even use her snappy opener and encourage your customers to "picture" themselves in your fabulous listing!
Be Like BLANCHE: Blanche was a lover, not a fighter. She always handled difficult situations with grace and Southern charm, and didn't believe in discriminating , especially when it came to a good man. Be like Blanche, and keep an open mind when dealing with your clients. Remember to keep that smile on your face, and handle yourself with poise and confidence even under the most trying circumstances.
I know technology has grown leaps and bounds since the glory days of 1980s television, but sometimes it's great to look back on the classics and remember the great life lessons they taught us. And of course, no post featuring the fabulous Girls would be complete without saying...."thank you for being a friend!"
