KENT, CT SIDEWALK FESTIVAL
Over the week-end of Thursday, August 4 - Sunday, August 7, the town of Kent in Connecticut held a Sidewalk Festival, as they called it, or sort of a street fair. It was a huge success!
The lucky visitors who came out on this beautiful day were treated to various activities for the whole family, such as:
Car Cruise Night
Fire Truck Rides
Great Food (e.g. pulled pork sandwiches) at Special Food Pavilions and at Local Restaurants
Super Sales at local stores
Live Music
Face Painting
Huge Outdoor Book Sale
….and more!
The day was warm and the atmosphere welcoming. Both adults and children found areas of interest. The Kent Library organized a very well-stocked book sale with categories ranging from children’s books to antique encyclopedias and probably nearly everything in between, including texts in foreign languages (Lithuanian anyone?).
A local shelter brought kittens for adoption. Children were permitted to play with them in their enclosure. Animal balloons were another favorite.
Kent is already known for shops with an artisan flair; additional stalls were abundant during this special week-end. Given the high temperatures, the local ice cream shops were a hit.
The quaint and picturesque Kent train station is home to a number of interesting establishments, including a coffee/refreshment shop, an antique guitar caboose and
several art galleries.
A walk along Kent’s main street is always a treat. The Kent Sidewalk Festival made the visit particularly enjoyable that week-end for both locals and visitors alike. What a great way to spend part of your summer!
