Exciting Events Coming to Big Canoe in September

I like to showcase all the fun events happening inside the gates of the Big Canoe, Georgia  Community each month. And this upcoming month of September has some very exciting events I am happy to share with you. My husband Al and I are looking forward to attending at least a few of them.

Here they are:

 

Thursday, September 1st: Acoustic Jam for musicians, singers and audience members will take place at the Big Canoe Swim Club at 7:00 pm. 

Saturday, September 3rd The Terraces Concert series presents the Kurt Thomas Band at 7:30 pm. This will be the last concert of the 2016 series. Tickets are $19.00 in advance and $24.00 the day of the concert.

Wednesday, September 7th: Tuscan Wine Dinner which features four Italian courses and a wine pairing of Italian wine for each one of them. The cost is $60 per person and will take place on the Veranda at the Clubhouse. 

Wednesday, September 7th: The first meeting of the new Big Canoe Storyteller's Club will be held at the Mountains Grille Room at the Big Canoe Clubhouse from 7:00 pm till 8:30 pm, because everyone has a story to tell.

Friday, September 9th: The Squires and Stags Club of Big Canoe hosts Attorney George Fox who will speak on the topic, "Living Wills Are Dinosaurs and Other Facts of Life." This will take place in the Mountains Grille Room of the Big Canoe Clubhouse. Coffee will be available at 7:45 am and a buffet breakfast will begin at 8:00 am. 

Thursday, September 15th: Hawaiian Luau Extravaganza sponsored by the Big Canoe Travel Club and CruiseOne/Dream Vacations. The event will include Hula dancers and a ticket for a specialty Hawaiian drink. The menu will include Hawaiian choices such as roasted pig and chicken skewers. Attendees will be greeted with a fresh flower lei. Representatives will be available from the following travel organizations: Norwegian Cruise Lines, Princess Cruise Lines, the Hawaiian Board and Pleasant Holidays companies will be available. 

Friday, September 16th: Member/Property Owners Golf Tournament. 7:30 am tee times are available. The cost is $30.00 per person.

Friday, September 16th: Summer Outdoor Movie Series presents the final movie of the 2016 series, "The Jungle Book." Taking place on the Playfield at 9:00 pm, attendees are invited to bring their own snacks and drinks, but a concession stand will be open. 

Saturday, September 17th: The Black Bear Pub Bear Society Pep Rally will take place at the pub. Four games will be playing on four different pub televisions and tailgating fare like chicken wings and other snacks will be offered as well as the regular pub menu. No tickets or reservations are needed...everyone should just show up and have fun!

Sunday, September 18th: The Knowledge Series at Big Canoe Presents Dr. Wayne Clough speaking on,"The Smithsonian: Seeing History As It Is Made." Dr. Clough is the former secretary of the Smithsonian and President Emeritus of the Georgia Institute of Technology. It will take place at 4:30 at the Mountains Grille Room at the Clubhouse.

Wednesday, September 21st: Community Dinner sponsored by the POA Farm Initiative. Starting at 6:00 pm at the Clubhouse, the cost is $20.00 per person. The menu includes salad, pork and apple skewers ( tofu instead of pork for vegetarians) green beans and sorbet.

Sunday, September 25th: Free Mountain Twilight Concert by three groups from Reinhardt University from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The free concert will take place at the Playfield Park and will feature the following music groups: the Hardt Breakers, a women's acapella group, "Men of Hardt" and "The Hardt Breakers" a Reinhardt University jazz ensemble.

Wednesday, September 28th: Jasper Drugs offers flu shots at the Broyles Center at the Big Canoe Chapel from 9:00 am till noon. Shots that aren't covered by private insurance or Medicare will cost $25.00.
