"FARM TO FORK" ... You be the middleman...

Farmers' Market direct to you in Lodi Thursdays at 4:00

With all the passion this year surrounding the Central Valley's emerging awareness of the "farm to fork" culture, we sometimes forget that in many of our communities the "farmers" have been offering pre-fork opportunities for years!  While it may take a little more effort than just dropping into your locally sourced eatery, community farmers' markets provide ongoing opportunities for farm fresh and healthy produce and products.  The Lodi Farmers Market has been running each Thursday from around 4:30 to dusk  ... and now with a break in the triple digit weather ... here's an opportunity for a family and/or friends outing ....

An opportunity to not only find fine, fresh food - but a chance to rub elbows with neighbors and meet new friends.  Check out the local businesses surrounding the market ... small business that are the backbone of our community economies.

Hi Jack

Very nice localism post, bringing the Lodi Farmers Market to residents in your area. We are so fortunate here in California to have the quantity and quality of fresh produce and to be able to enjoy markets like this year-round!

Thank Jeff ... I lived a decade on the east coast, and while it had its charms, I really appreciated what we often take for granted here.  Thanks for the comment ...

Great blog about Lodi local farmer's market.  I swear  fruits seem much juicier when bought from a farmer's market. Much continued success to the local Lodi farmers.

Thanks ... and I think that often the reason for the improved taste ... they fruits are ripened on the farm ... not in the transportation system!  Thanks for stopping by!

David - Th markets are one of my favorite things, and while the Lodi market is not year-round there are several in the area that run all year, but after the harvest season, you are never sure where these "farmers" may have found their offerings.

Hi Jack Mossman - The Nines Team at Keller Williams in Lodi , There is nothing like fresh foor directly from the farmers.  This is the best time of year for fresh food, not shipped in from China or Peru and other places around the world.
