Adventures in Jumping to Conclusions
My cell phone is my primary phone contact.
But my office direct number is "out there" too.
And the direct line forwards to my cell phone.
When that happens, I don’t see the caller’s actual phone number.
I simply know it’s a call from the general number of my office.
I received such a call yesterday.
I’m calling about a property on XYZ Street and I left a message. I still haven’t received a return call.
I’m sorry this happened. Who am I speaking with?
What difference does it make?
Well, I have received multiple inquiries on that property(a lease) and the owners have accepted one of the many applications submitted.
As an aside -- until all paperwork is processed, the status in the multiple listing service(mls) shows as “hold” and as far as I know it’s not showing on any of the many websites. I’m pretty sure of this since the calls since the change in mls status has eliminated the majority of calls.
I either returned a phone call to each of the inquiries, sent a text message or email(sometimes a combination of all three).
Well, I never….
And then she hung up.
Could I have missed one of the inquiries? Certainly. Stuff happens.
Could she have been one of the people with a phone number without a voicemail established?
Was it a land line that I mistakenly sent a text?
Was it one of the bounced email addresses?
Did her husband/boyfriend/significant other answer and didn’t know her name?
Did you tell me you didn’t know why I was calling you?
Could you be the same person who sent me an email at 3:30AM and then at 4 and at 4:10AM just to make sure I received it and then never responded?
So if you didn’t receive a return phone call - yes, first I will apologize that this happened to you but really it might not be my fault.
