The Delta Panthers hosted the Durango Demons for their opening season game. I missed the game, and I wish I hadn't. It sounds like this one had a lot of action happening, but it didn't go in Delta's favor.
Delta lost this non conference game 21 to 20.
Durango Demon player Gavin Mestas made it into the state record book for returning a kickoff 99 yards to score a touchdown. Mestas also had two interceptions with one of them resulting in a touchdown, and he received a 42 yard pass resulting in another touchdown. He also kicked three extra points.
The Panthers next game is 9/9. The team will travel to Craig and take on Moffat County High School. That game starts at 7pm.
