Soo 735 was long over due for a professional make-over. I couldn't tell you how many years the old gal was in service but according to the little monument next to her she has been resting on this very short piece of rail for 60 years.
Soo 735 did have a nearly worthless make-over by some real amateurs a few years back that did nothing more than dump gallons and gallons of paint on her. She looked OK for a short time and it made her smell good ... for an even shorter time. They just painted right over the rust. As you can see it came back with a vengeance!
I think they are serious about it this time just by looking at the enclosure they are building around it. I hope they give her sandblast shower and get all the rust off so she will be as stunning as she was when she first rolled out of the factory.
I would like to see a bigger tribute to Soo 735 than the little grave stone marker. I heard she could travel up to 70 mph. I'd like to know the old gal's weight, where she was born, where did she regularly travel, and more. I will keep you posted on her progress and if I get answers to some of my questions I fill you in on those too.
