This past weekend, I spent both Saturday and Sunday walking all over Carmel Valley Village. On Saturday, I went from one end of the village to the other, checking out what businesses had opened or closed during the past few months. As you can imagine, there were some changes but not as many as one might think. In fact, there are some super additions when shopping like the RED PEAR and K&CO, THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER. Lots of great items for the home.
With restaurants, ROUX is my current favorite, had a meal there both Saturday and Sunday. Excellent choices for a smaller eater like myself. GEORIS moved across the street in a much better and larger location. Both are on Pilot street. Both places are great to hang out in their courtyard.
Wine tasting, of course, is excellent all over Carmel Valley Village. The new ones including BIG SUR VINEYARDS, BUNTER SPRING WINERY and JARMAN TASTING LOUNGE AT WILLS FARGO. One change, CHATEAU SINNET has moved from Center Street to around the corner.
Art galleries are fabulous in Carmel Valley Village including PATRICIA QUALLS and ROLF LYGREN studios. New is EDGE right next to Cafe Rustica. Several galleries combine wine tasting and art such as LYONSHEAD GALLERY, JEAN DE LUZ, and PARSONAGE ART & WINE. A combination of gift shop and art can be found at the new RED PEAR and GERRI'S KELP CREATIONS. Others not to be missed include MASAOKA DESIGN, PERIDOT and CARMEL VALLEY ART ASSOCIATION which represents dozens of local artists.
Sunday was a fun day with a friend, shopping, having lunch, and tasting fabulous vinegars and olive oil made right here in the region. The shop: THE QUAIL & OLIVE.
"Carpe Vinum--seize the Wine!" is a slogan I can get behind especially in beautiful Carmel Valley Village.
In the next few days, I will be updating my website www.carmelvalleycalifornia.com with MAPS etc. so that all these great businesses can be more easily found when walking around Carmel Valley Village.
