I recently listed and SOLD 8140 Corn Mountain Pl NW located in NW Albuquerque's Ventana Ranch West.
Ventana Ranch is a popular bedroom community known for affordable homes, beautiful parks and good schools.
Ventana Ranch West is one of the newer parts of the neighborhood. Construction began in 2005 or so by Pulte Homes and DR Horton.
Popular One Story Floorplan
DR Horton built this beautiful single story home in 2007. This was a super popular floor plan at the time, and it remains so today. One of the reasons was its flexibility.
It can be built with 2 or 3 garages, and with 3 or 4 bedrooms. There's a lot of value in a newer 4 bedroom single story home in NW Albuquerque, especially when it has a 3 car garage and refrigerated air. However, my favorite version of this floor plan - I think it was called The Yellowstone - is the 3 bedroom version with the Grand Master suite.
The Grand Master suite subtracted a bedroom, but increased the size of the master bedroom while also providing a second walk-in closet that is even larger than the first one.
DR Horton was one of two home builders in Ventana Ranch West, the other being Pulte homes. While Pulte homes had nicer standard features, DR Horton had the larger, more affordable homes with a great selection of floor plans.
Until recently, the resale market in Ventana Ranch West was not doing well. Due to the fact that the neighborhood was built at the peak of the market, it was riddled with short sales and foreclosures.
I'm happy to say that today, in 2016, almost all of those problems are behind us and homes in the neighborhood are starting to sell like they should.
Other Ventana Ranch Areas
The Trails at Ventana Ranch is another popular area that's even newer than Ventana Ranch West. The homes there were built starting in 2007. The building continues today. Seville, another area of homes nearby is also very popular as is Montecito Estates. To see some of the other neighborhoods, check out this cool map I made of the area.
