Enchanted Music Together in Philadelphia follows goals developed by the Center for Music and Young Children, an organization founded in 1987 in Princeton, NJ, dedicated to understanding how children develop musically. Music Together, now offered in 3500 cities, 40 countries and on 5 continents, stresses parent involvement (or grandparent, or Nanny or other care-giving  person) so the child's experience may continue to be enjoyed and shared even outside the class.

'Music Together works to create a playful, nonperformance-oriented
environment that Ken Guilmartin, Founder, describes as musically rich,
yet immediately accessible to the child and the adult. “We believe all children are musical,” explains Guilmartin. “They can all reach basic
music competence with the right help.”

WHAT ARE THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF
MUSIC TOGETHER INSTRUCTION?

I. All children are musical.
II. All children can achieve basic music competence (defined as
the ability to sing in tune with accurate rhythm). 

III. The participation and modeling of parents and other primary
caregivers, regardless of their musical ability, is essential to a child's
musical growth.

IV. Young children’s musical growth occurs best in a playful,
musically rich, and developmentally appropriate setting, free of direct instruction and performance pressure, where learning activities are accessible, interesting, and fun for both children and adults.
