Children historic picture Yarnell Headlee

I love it when I get picture contributions from some of the Searcy Sleuths.  Tom Headlee has given me permission to share this one with you and he gives a little history about it.  He and I are both hoping that perhaps these beautiful children can be identified and the location can be pointed out.  Who knew Searcy may have had "row" houses but these two do look alike, don't they.

Thanks, Tom Headlee!!

Hi Barbara -

Here is one of the more interesting pictures from my grandmother’s (Mildred Yarnell Headlee) collection.  Unfortunately, it was not labeled.

I am sure it was taken in Searcy…likely in the 1920’s.  High probability these were Yarnells or Yarnell cousins.  The boy in the back might be Harry Wood…a Yarnell cousin who lived in Searcy at this time and later in Marvel, AR.  I don’t have a clue regarding the other two children.

Please share on your blog if you feel this pic would be of general interest.  Perhaps one of your sleuths can identify the kids and the location.

 Regards - Tom Headlee

We need Dorothy to chime in on this one if, indeed, the children are part of the Yarnell clan. Must be in town near the center because there are sidewalks. The

houses are close together also. There were livery stables in the downtown at that time where donkeys, mules, and horses were stabled.

Park Street house today

Could this be the house in the old picture?   Don, this house would have been close to the mule barn that is still on Yarnell's property.

I know that Irene Forrest and her sister lived in this area in a house that I remember looking somewhat like this one. Am I completely on the wrong track?

Mary, I think you are on the wrong track but we have no answers for sure yet.  Houses that would have been on Spruce and Park are gone.
