See it, click it, send it ....

Sharing your story ....

All of us want our posts & information shared on many different platforms. Nothing wrong with being seen wherever possible.

I wanted to 'share' with you the craze that is now happening.  It's basically 'see it, click it', send it'.  All well & good except for a few points:

Read what you are sharing please!  Be sure that what you link or send is relevant to the U.S.  What you say?

Now I have to actually read everything that I am sharing? (how inconvenient!)

Yeah, I think it's a good idea because sharing real estate info from South Africa, England & asharing few other places is not pertinent to our country. Just because it's in English doesn't make it a good article for your area of South Carolina.

Here's a tip off - there's a slight difference in the use of some words & spelling.

Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true or relevant again.  A great example of this is when my sister was looking for legal advice (of course! on the internet) on wills & estate planning & sent me a post that she wanted me to read.  Upon reading, there were some big differences in phrases & spelling.  Looking closer at the bottom of the post I saw it was from the Legal Institute in the U.K. Yeah right, great info that makes no difference to me!

sharing on google+Maybe you've noticed other agents on social media that share the same article OVER and OVER again with the same picture & same lead lines.

Is this blitzing the market?  Is it being a social media master?  This is world dominance?  The same group of 7 literally spamming their followers on Facebook or Google+?

Is this the new market domination?  Saturating the market with the same info does not make you a market expert in your area.

It's a copy cat only it's called something else now.  It's call sharing.

Just a few thoughts on the matter.

Amazing how some seem to believe everything they see or read on the internet without doing their own research - it doesn't take much to confirm

And I agree with you - sharing just because you can click the "easy" button  is insane - kind of like thinking all those so called "friends" you have on FB are actually your friends LMAO!

Hi Lyn Sims , I totally agree with you. I was doing some research for a blog and found a great statistic I wanted to use. It had been reported in so many articles, but it turned out to have been paid up. The "source" actually didn't make the claim the first writer ran with. It pays to read and consider the sources!

You mean everything I read on the internete is not completely true?  Oh shoot!!!

You are so right.  Just because some maniac posts something doesn't make it true.

I saw something lsat week on FB about Sean Penn being dead.  After investigating, I found that it was all untrue.  Why would someone do that?

Hi Lyn Sims Yes, indeed. Way too much "sharing" going on. If you want to "educate" someone else, first educate yourself. Then you can write an original piece on the subject.

Personally, I'm sick of all the sharing that seems to go on in our society these days... and it's not even real most of the time or very personal.

Nina:  The fact that some in the business share the same pin or post with the same 20 agents just overwhelms the platforms every week. Then I get a laugh out of the agents that are not reading what they are sharing at all.

This is the exact reason I don't sign up for content delivery services.  I see the agents in our market using the same one that autoposts for them and see the same stuff over and over.

That is very true & part of what Gene said - what makes you stand out then? You're just part of the spamming pack.

Call me a neurotic LO, Lyn Sims , but these days LO's can't be too careful about what they share or promote.  I try hard to read and verify that the info included in what I hope to share is accurate ... and even go beyond that ..  if it's presented in a manner in which I would be proud to say is my own.  Yeah .. I know.  Like I said ... Neurotic.  I also try to stay away from sharing info that is repeatedly seen elsewhere.  What would make my "sharing" standing out with that info?  Doesn't make sense to me.

You broach a very timely topic here, Lyn ... well done!

Gene:  Yes, sharing the same info by countless others how do you stand out? What makes you different? It's like getting bombarded with spam or unwanted mail - make it stop!

I don't understand the blitz approach.

Social media is killing both originality and truth, Lyn!  And speaking of the email blitzes - I've made more 'rules' (sending email to trash automatically) in the past year than the past 10 years put together.  It's OUTRAGEOUS!

Just did a social media class for my crew and told them to be more careful with shares.  While I didn't point fingers I did tell them that I'd found several of them with inaccurate info posted to their business pages and pinterest boards.  I also send some private emails to the offenders.

Hi Lyn Sims , Sharing information can definately be an advantage, but can backfire if it is inacurrate.
