Since I had jury duty today I traveled to downtown San Antonio. That is something I enjoy but do infrequently since most of the properties I list and sell are outside our lovely historic Alamo city downtown area. Since I was in the vicinity I took some time at lunch to eat at one of my favorite deli's anywhere - Schilo's. Schilo's which was founded in 1917 and is one of the oldest continuously operating food establishments in the country and is a fun throwback in time. It is an authentic German delicatessen and oozes with old fashinoned charm. And the food served is superb and plentiful and doesn't bust your wallet. I particularly enjoy the split pea soup (which I had today) and their German potato salad. Friends also rave about their German potato pancakes. And I totally agree. Schilo's is just 2 blocks from the Alamo and steps from the Riverwalk. So, it is convenient for both tourists and downtown business locals.
