This blog post from Ben Kinney motivated me to come up with my own mission, vision and values statement. Although his post is directed at real estate agents, any small business owner will profit from reading it and I highly recommend it. Not only does it illustrate why mission, vision and value statements are a good idea, it also provides a road map for how to come up with your own. Lastly, but definitely not least, it also explains what they are in the first place. The words all sound quite similar. It's easy to mix them up, (as I found out during my brainstorming sessions).
So without further ado, lets get on with the Mission, Vision and Values Statement for Cardinal Realty. I'm a straightforward kind of gal, so I don't think it needs any explanation...
Mission Statement
"To Help Happy Clients Make Smart Choices in the Purchase and Sale of Real Estate"
Vision Statement
"Always Put the Client First. Every time. The rest will follow" I firmly believe that we get what we give. It really is as simple as that.
Values Statement
Responsive
Enthusiasm
Sense of Humor
Prepared
Effective
Client Focused
Truthful
As you can see, the values statement is built around the word respect. Having respect for others is the thread that runs through my business, and my life for that matter. I consider it important to show respect to anyone I have dealings with. (Even if I don't like them, I can still respect them). As real estate agents we are in the unique situation of co-operating and competing with one another at the same time. When the going gets tough it's important to remember we are all after the same thing. We want our clients to come out on the other side happy!
