The Romance of San Francisco

By
Real Estate Agent with Compass CA DRE# 01215160

San Francisco is a destination city for many vacationers from around the world. It's popular with conventioneers and sports enthusiasts.

It's a dream city for many residents and would-be residents, too.

For many, the romance begins with their first view of the Golden Gate Bridge and The City. Did you know that a home (condo or single-family home) with views of the Golden Gate Bridge can carry a premium price tag of $100,000-$500,000 or more than a similar home with no bridge view? The view never gets boring, and isn't the same two days in a row - the fog swirls in, the fog lifts, the sky is brilliantly blue, or not -- the mystery of it is captivating. If your home doesn't happen to have a view of the Golden Gate bridge, not to worry - you can walk or jog across it, bicycle across, drive across; you can enjoy it from parks, beaches and hilltops or from a ferry boat in the bay. Check it out during one of the awesome sunsets - pure magic!

Then there are the cable cars - nothing more romantic and charming than seeing "little cable cars, climbing half way to the stars" as Tony Bennett so delightfully put it in his song, 'I left my heart in San Francisco.' The first cable cars came into use in 1873 as a way to safely navigate The City's 43 hills; 3 lines still operate today. Two from Powell and Market Streets take you to either Fsherman's Wharf or Ghirardelli Square; the 3rd goes along California Street, up and across Nob Hill connecting the Financial District with Van Ness Avenue. I can't think of a more joyous way to commute to work than by cable car!

Whether you are a fan of organized marathons and 5K runs, or prefer more solitary sports like hiking or jogging, we have miles and miles of beaches, trails, staircases, and numerous parks. The weather is conducive to playing outdoors 12 months of the year, and enjoy the outdoors we do.

Then there are the dining experiences from simple to sublime, the neighborhoods from funky to posh, the night-life, the art, museums, architecture, and music. But those are left for another post.

San Francisco - where it's easy to fall in love.
