5 Common Insurance Claims

Part of the home buying process includes getting insurance on the home. Many times our buyers will ask for insurance advice. The best advice we can give you is to talk to a licensed professional insurance agent.

Depending on what region you live in, different policies can include or exclude different coverages.

Your home is a huge investment so you want to make sure you protect it. When you talk to your agent we highly recommend discussing these 5 common losses and making sure your policy will provide you coverage in time of need .

Wind & Hail - This is one of the most common claims made. Hail/wind can damage roof, siding, fences, etc. Damage can be mild to severe and we recommend getting a professional to evaluate it after any major storm.

Theft - There were over 2 million reported burglaries in 2010 in the US. If you come home to something missing it's important to alert police right away. Once you have a report talk to you agent about a filing a claim. Getting a security system may be a great idea and many insurance companies offer you discounts for having one.

Fire & Lightning - You want to make sure these are not excluded from your policy. From a grease fire to an actual lightening strike, you want coverage in this category because repairs can be extremely expensive when it comes to fires.

Vandalism - Standard home insurance policies typically cover vandalism. These can include things like spray paint, egging, broken fixtures, etc.

Water Damage & Freezing - A good portion of homes experience freezing weather occasionally. Make sure your pipes are insulated to prevent any bursting. Check with you agent about making sure this is covered.

We hope this blog will prompt you to have a discussion with your insurance agent to make sure you are property covered.

Nice informative post! Most of the people are still unaware that they can dispute the insurance company's findings via the insurance appraisal process! Many insurance companies deny to pay even if the policyholder submits a contractor's estimate, receipts for repairs or materials, or even photos showing damages that the insurance company did not include for repairs. That still doesn't work. Most policyholders are unaware of how to dispute and resolve their claim with the insurance company. So, one can find a good adjuster such as AllClaimsUSA and many more by searching online who can help them and suggest good advice related insurance.
