I have to admit that I don't remember my first ride but seeing this young man on his made me smile and imagine just what I may have been thinking.

A Man's 1st Ride by Bob Timm

I'm sure thoughts about being Fast, Racing, Independance, Travel, and of course getting home in time for diner too. I'm pretty sure my mom didn't paint my toe nail to match my bike though.

I can remember getting my first bicycle at age seven.  I also remember getting my tricycle at age 5.  Both were Christmas presents. Very special memories!

You have a much better memory than I Myrl Jeffcoat although I think I remember my 1st bike. If I'm correct in my thinking it was a Schwinn that I latter added a banna seat, sissy bar, and butterfly handlebars to.

I'm sure it was NOT funny at the time William Feela but it made me laugh to hear you tell it.

Hi Bobby, I'm sure he is looking forward to the removal of the training wheels.

Since that first ride for me was nearly 70 years ago, I guess I can be excused for not remembering. At least I hope so.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm ,  That's quite a ride.  I wish we would have had a ride like that when I was young.   I definately wouldn't have had a painted toenail.  I would have had a Big red "S" on my shirt though and probably a cape.

The bike was actually supposed to be his brothers Lou Ludwig but he picked up on it first while his older brother preferred to stay with a scooter.

I like how the blue toenail matches his "ride"....sort of an updated version of bein' a bad boy on a bike.
