Would You Live on a Street Named “Plantation”- in East Point Georgia?

It’s 2016. Would you live on the Plantation? Or on a street named “Plantation”? Conley Hills East Point home for sale

Let’s say you find your house of dreams — four sides brick, all one level, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a den, laundry room, separate dining, a huge sunroom that’s just perfect for parties or watching football games, and a private backyard that’s just to die for. It’s in Conley Hills, one of the most desired and convenient spots in the sought after city of East Point GA. And you could even entice the seller to throw in a new appliance package at closing. This vintage home is clean, well-kept and filled with character from the 1950’s. It is priced to sell. What’s not to like?

The home is on a Plantation — Plantation Drive, that is.

Would you live on a street called “Plantation”?

Hi Cheryl Dukes - Premier Luxury Marketing Consultant - Atlanta ,  As long as the home is what I am looking for, as a Buyer, the street name is not much of a factor, unless it's something like "Cemetery Lane" or "Foresaken Road".  You get the picture! I am not a negative person, so I wouldn't want to live on a street with a negative name. Now "Plantation" could go either way, seeing it is in the South.

Thanks for weighing in Larry. I definitely would not want to live on cemetery lane - I don't think I'd be able to get anyone to come and visit me.😎

I understand why that name could stir up undesirable feelings but if it was the home of my dreams I think I could get over it.

Well if you are an African American it's an insult on sooo many levels but my ancestors lived, died, we're raped, and sold on a dam plantation it's doesn't matter if it was my dream house or not.

Marco Giancola and Angela Thompson-Roby - As more and more African Americans purchase homes on this street, it seems they would take steps to get the street renamed. Perhaps some new homeowners will also be action takers.
