Search Reno homes for saleStarting Friday, September 9th, balloonatics from around the country descend upon our City for the 2016 Great Reno Balloon Race.  Gates open at 3:30am each and every morning.  You'll want to get to Rancho San Rafael Park early to find a good spot to watch.  Friday morning promises a Super Glow Show at 5:15am.  Between 25 to 30 balloons light up their burners in preparation for the mass ascension launch at 7am.  The mass ascension takes place each morning at the same time.  A regular Glow Show takes place at 5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  What's the difference?  The regular show features between 12 to 15 balloons.  It's a sight to behold no matter how many balloons are involved.

Come in your PJs for the Biggest Little Pajama Party between 7am and 7:30am on Friday and Saturday.  Vendors open their booths from 4:30am to 11am each morning along Balloon Blvd.  Do a little shopping before you leave.  The 2016 Great Reno Balloon Race ends the last day with a special Girl Scout Scavenger Hunt from 6am to 8am.

Parking for the 2016 Great Reno Balloon Race

Public parking for the 2016 Great Reno Balloon Race is available for $10 at the park.  However, spaces are limited.  Free handicapped parking will be available on-site.  Just make sure you have a placard on display if you do not have the appropriate license plate.  RTC offers an express service to the park every 30 minutes for a small fee.  Visitors have the option of a free shuttle service from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center between 4am and 10am on Saturday and Sunday.  It's about a mile and a half walk from downtown Reno if you're up for a little exercise.  Keep in mind that the walk to the park from downtown is uphill.  On the flip side, that means that your walk back will be so much easier.
