When I was thinking of relocating for retirement and a peace (yes, I spelled it this way on purpose) of heaven I decided it would be the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. I lived and worked in New Jersey for most of my adult life but was ready for a slower pace in a special place. In Stockbridge, Massachusetts I found my Shangra la. Norman Rockwell had lived and worked here and the town is much the same as it was when he called this land home.

I came for the music. In the Berkshires there is always mucic. Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony and is known worldwide as wonderful venue for every type of music. Since living here I enjoy music all year long in the many areas where musicians of every genre live and work.

If art is your thing the area is replete with museums of every sort. Whether the Clark Art Institutute in Williamstown or the more modern MASS MOCA, in North Adams the choices are many and varied, and little galleries can be found any and everywhere.

I love the area for so many reasons. There is always something engaging to see and do and the shopping is unique and the restaurants plentiful and varied. New England flavors and old world magic make the Berkshires my emotional and actual home.
