Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties 01238708

Save our Water:  CA Turf replacement rebates up to $2000.

www.endrebarath.com

California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is now offering a rebate program for removing turf and replacing it with landscapes that require little water.

The program will rebate up to $2 per square foot of turf removed with a maximum rebate of $2,000.00 per household (* Rebate availability and $ amount eligibility per square foot depends on your location and water agency.) to view terms and conditions, verify eligibility, and apply please visit:

www.SaveOurWaterRebates.com

To accomplish the process consists of the Simple Steps:

Step One:

  1.        Submit the application at  www.SaveOurWaterRebates.com
  2.        Receive your reservation approval to begin the conversion project.
  3.        Start and complete your Turf Replacement project per the guidelines.

Step Two:

  1.        Complete the rebate application at  www.SaveOurWaterRebates.com for review.
  2.        Receive your rebate approval notice.
  3.        Receive your rebate check!

Now keep in mind these rebates are available for California single-family residences only. This is not just a Los Angeles County program this is a California State sponsored program hence the amount of eligibility per square foot depends on your location and water agency. This was thanks to Prop1 The Water Bond Initiative of 2014.

There are a few Specific terms & Conditions I am not going to list all but please consider these as important:

1.Turf may be living or dead at the time of application for a reservation. Bare earth areas with no sign of turf are not eligible.

2. The rebated portion of the converted landscapes may only include low water use ie.: drought-tolerant or California native plants. The Water Use Classification of Landscape Species list (http://ucanr.edu/sites/WUCOLS/ ) or local plants lists may be used to make this selection.

3. One key exception is that the rebated portion of the converted landscape may also include food-producing trees, shrubs, vines and perennial plants.

4. Turf replacement and landscape conversion must be completed within 120 days of application approval.

If you have missed out on last year’s rebate program and wanted to do it but did not have the funds, here is your opportunity to do it. Take advantage of it and help California Save Water.

What a great idea and program being offered to address the CA drought and water-saving needs, Endre Barath, Jr. ... I've already tweeted and posted the info on a few of my social media sites for others to see.  Hopefully many will take part in this initiative .. and  other states will soon follow suit ...

Great post!

Makes total sense.  Where water is a scarce resource, why waste it on grass?  There are so many attractive alternatives that don't need cutting!

Sounds like a good program for water conservation Endre Barath, Jr. but it's a shame the state has to pay for folks to get on board with something like this.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel  indeed Bill Roberts  makes a good point, as to the LA river it is in the process of being reconverted to a natural river instead of a concrete river, Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. Reading through the comments I can see that there is a lot misconceptions and downright ignorance out there concerning the water "issue" in California. We have more water than  we can ever use if we just "captured" the snow melt off the Sierra. Maybe I will set the record straight on this.

Hello Endre and Las Vegas has been offering this for over 10 years now! I think it's a great idea and I remember mentioning this to locals 2-3 years ago.

And I have another great answer that can help save water through out the state of California.

All these open areas where there is a over abundance of grass that needs to be watered, parks, etc. Wasting water, creating humidity and bugs, for what?

You'd better check with your HOA first and see if they have a problem with the landscaping of your choice.  Sometimes those entities are a little hidebound with rules and regulations, and won't be flexible.
