Our warm daytime temperatures can easily make us forget that fall is just around the corner. Although some of the trees are already changing color, and it's beginning to look a bit like fall around here.
Grand Mesa Color Sunday is set for September 25th this year. The Grand Mesa Visitor Center will be open from 9am to 5pm. This is a great time to explore and enjoy the beauty of fall on the mesa.
There are a few things happening in the town of Mesa...the annual arts and crafts show and the 4H Turkey Dinner. Both events are at the community. Here's a bit more information.
Powderhorn Mountain Resort will have the lifts running on September 24th and 25th.
Of course there's plenty to do and see on Grand Mesa. Enjoy lunch at one of the lodges and take a hike, bike or enjoy the colors from your car. The scenery continues down Highway 65 as you head into the small mountain town of Cedaredge.
Even though September 25th is designated as Color Sunday, there are other factors that can affect when the best color display happens. Nature has the final say, and wind, rain and cold weather can make a big difference in when and how much color we have.
