People are nosy for one.
For another, when people hear juicy details they like to share them.
That is why I love my older friends.
They can't remember a thing so my secrets are safe with them!!!!
So, make an elderly person your friend and pour your heart out.
Well, be careful with that. My elderly neighbor remembers everything - even when he remembers it incorrectly.
Years ago, when I was still an agent, he led me to believe he was considering selling and asked me to do a market analysis. I did, and when I gave it to him I said "You're a millionaire."
Now, every few months he brings it up and swears that I had the audacity to ask him if he was a millionaire.
By the way, he had no intention of selling then, nor did he intend to sell after his wife died. So when he asked me about an agent to call for a market analysis for probate purposes I told him no - that agents weren't supposed to do that and that it was rude to ask someone to do that many hours' work for free. He should call an appraiser and pay the few hundred dollars.
So he called his daughter-in-law and she called in an agent from out of town. Some people just have no manners.

That's so funny William, great spin and humor. As an R.N., I will add they also have many great stories to tell. Stories that they have kept close to the vest and are ready to let go.
Yes but once these stories get remembered they are told over and over and over.
