Gerbera Daisy, Klondike, Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA IMG 0333
Gerbera daisies grow well in Montgomery County, Maryland and are good flowers to have in home gardens. They are readily available in different colors and sizes. My friends in South Africa are proud that this flower was discovered in their country.
This photograph was taken at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. What you see in the background are ornamental peppers, Capsicum annuum, 'Karneval Orange'.
Subhash Sharma "This Gerbera daisy is the 5th most popular flower in the world. These daisies can mean innocence, purity, and cheerfulness and come in a number of vibrant colours.Sending them is the perfect way to brighten someone’s day. This daisy was discovered in 1884 near Barberton, South Africa, by Scotsman Robert Jameson. While the flower’s scientific name, Gerbera jamesonii, recollects the name of its founder, the meaning of its common name draws from German naturalist Traugott Gerber."
Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend from India. He now lives in Dublin, Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.
